What you get for $12 a month (beta price)

Every tier includes the whole product. There is no “upgrade for GST/HST tracking.” The only difference between the plans themselves is billing cadence. The one thing that scales is how many businesses you run, at $10 CAD a month for each one after the first.

GST/HST $30,000 threshold tracker

Your rolling four-quarter revenue is on the dashboard against the mandatory-registration line. Register before you cross, not after.

T2125 line-by-line expense mapping

Every expense lands on a specific CRA T2125 line as you enter it. Year end is an export, not a reconciliation.

Run more than one business

Each business gets its own books, T2125, receipts folder, and dashboard, and you switch between them with tabs under one login. Your plan includes your first business. Each additional business is $10 CAD per month.

GST/HST remittance calculator

Quick or Regular method, whichever fits you. Built in for all 13 provinces and territories. Pick a province, enter revenue, see your remittance.

Google Drive receipt scanning

Drop receipts in a Drive folder. NorthOS reads them, categorizes them to the right T2125 line, and attaches them to the transaction.

North AI bookkeeping assistant

Write-capable. Categorizes transactions, answers tax questions in plain language, and updates your books through a normal chat.

Mileage log

CRA-compliant business-use mileage tracking. Your business kilometres drive the business-use percentage behind T2125 Line 9281, which is the actual-cost method sole proprietors file on. There is no flat per-kilometre rate for the self-employed.

Provincial sales tax (PST, QST, RST)

Automatic handling for BC, SK, MB, and QC. Marketplace facilitator rules for Etsy, eBay, and similar platforms baked in.

CRA deadline alerts

Installment dates, GST/HST filing deadlines, and the T1 due date surfaced on the dashboard before they bite.

On iPhone and Android

The NorthOS app is live on the App Store and Google Play. Scan receipts, log mileage, and check your books from your pocket, in sync with the web.

Send invoices, get paid

Bill a client and take card payment online through Stripe, right from NorthOS. Sent, viewed, and paid all reconcile back to your books automatically.

Running more than one business as a sole proprietor has its own CRA rules: separate books and a T2125 behind each one, but a single GST/HST registration and one combined $30,000 threshold across all of them. How accounting for multiple businesses works.

How the 14-day trial works

You sign up with an email address. No credit card is required to start. The trial gives you the full product for 14 days: import your bank transactions, scan your receipts, see your GST/HST threshold tracker, run a Quick or Regular method calculation, and generate a sample T2125 export.

At the end of the 14 days, you choose a billing cadence (monthly or annual) and enter payment details to continue. If you do not enter payment details, the account is paused, your data is retained for a reasonable window, and you can come back later without rebuilding your books.

The beta annual rate is $119 CAD for the full year (about $9.92 a month, roughly two months free vs. monthly). The regular annual price after beta ends will be $159 CAD. The beta monthly rate is $12 CAD billed every month; the regular monthly price will be $16 CAD. Subscribers who join during beta keep their rate permanently. Same product either way.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free plan?
There is no permanent free plan. NorthOS includes a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. After the trial, the beta price is $12 CAD per month or $119 CAD per year. The regular price after beta ends will be $16 CAD per month or $159 CAD per year. Subscribers who join during beta lock in the lower rate for as long as they stay subscribed.
What is the beta pricing and does it last?
While NorthOS is in beta, monthly is $12 CAD and annual is $119 CAD per year. These are limited-time prices. The regular price will be $16 CAD per month or $159 CAD per year. If you subscribe during beta, your rate is locked in permanently as long as you keep your subscription active.
Do I need a credit card to start the trial?
No. The trial begins without a card on file. You will be asked to enter payment details at the end of the trial if you want to continue.
What is included in NorthOS?
Every plan includes Google Drive receipt scanning, T2125 line-by-line expense mapping, the GST/HST $30,000 registration-threshold tracker, the GST/HST remittance calculator (Quick or Regular method, whichever fits you) for all 13 provinces and territories, the mileage log, the North AI bookkeeping assistant, and provincial sales tax (PST/QST/RST) handling for BC, SK, MB, and QC.
Is GST/HST tracking included?
Yes, in every plan. NorthOS tracks your rolling four-quarter revenue against the $30,000 mandatory-registration threshold, calculates your remittance under either the Regular or the Quick Method (you choose), and handles provincial sales tax for BC, SK, MB, and QC. There is no extra tier or add-on for any of this GST/HST functionality.
What does a second business cost?
Your subscription includes your first business. Each additional business is $10 CAD per month added to your existing plan, or $120 CAD per year if you are on the annual plan. There is no second account and no second full subscription. On the beta monthly rate, three businesses come to $32 per month, or $36 at the regular rate. Each business keeps its own books, T2125, and receipts, while your GST/HST threshold and income tax are worked out across the combined total, which is how the CRA treats a sole proprietor.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time and stop billing at the end of the current period. Annual plans run for the year you paid for and do not auto-renew without explicit consent at the end.
What's the difference between Monthly and Annual?
Same product, different billing. The beta monthly rate is $12 CAD per month. The beta annual rate is $119 CAD per year, which works out to roughly $9.92 a month (about two months free vs. paying monthly). Pick monthly if you want flexibility; pick annual if you want the best rate locked in.
Where is my data hosted?
NorthOS is built in Ontario, and your bookkeeping data is hosted in Canada. The product is designed specifically for Canadian sole proprietors and side hustlers, and Canadian residency for the data is part of that design.
Do you give receipts for tax purposes?
Yes. Your NorthOS subscription is a deductible business expense and a receipt is available in your billing settings after every charge.
