Your members keep NorthOS at the founding price for life.

For settlement agencies, community groups, and member associations whose members are self-employed in Canada. Each member gets a personal invite link. A member who signs up through it pays $12 a month or $119 a year, even after new accounts move to $19 and $189 on Nov 1, 2026.

The offer

NorthOS leaves beta on Nov 1, 2026. From that date a new account pays $19 a month or $189 a year (CAD). An account created before it keeps $12 a month or $119 a year for life.

Each of your members gets a personal invite link from your organization. A member who signs up through their invite link keeps the founding price, $12 a month or $119 a year, for life, on web checkout. A member who signs up this way on or after Nov 1 does not pay the higher price.

Each invite link works once, for one member. The founding price belongs to the member's account. Members start with a 14-day free trial, with no card needed.

How it works for your members

Three steps, in this order.

1. We give your organization personal invite links.

When you are approved, we give you a set of invite links, one for each member you want to invite. Each link works once, for one member.

2. You send each member their own link.

Send each member their own link, not a shared one. The member opens it in a web browser and creates their account there. The link has to be used when the member creates the account.

3. They sign up and subscribe on the web, then install the app.

The member uses the free trial, then subscribes on the web at app.northos.ca. That is where the founding price applies: $12 a month or $119 a year. Then they install the NorthOS app from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the same login. It is the same account and the same books.

Subscribe on the web, not in the phone app.

The App Store and Google Play checkouts charge the store's price, not the founding price. A member who subscribes on the web first, then installs the app, keeps the founding price.

What NorthOS does for a self-employed member

NorthOS is bookkeeping for sole proprietors in Canada: people who work for themselves and report their business income on their personal tax return.

The T2125.Every expense category maps to a specific line on the CRA's Statement of Business or Professional Activities. Advertising goes to line 8521, meals and entertainment to 8523, motor vehicle to 9281, and so on. The member picks a plain-English category, and the line is already attached. Our T2125 guide walks through the whole form. NorthOS gets the return ready to file: a T2125 preview with a CSV or PDF export. It does not file anything for the member. The filing happens with the tax authority, or through the member's tax software or accountant.

GST/HST. NorthOS tracks the running total against the $30,000 registration threshold and flags it as the member approaches it. It also has a remittance calculator for the Quick Method and the Regular method. Our guide on when to register for GST/HST covers the rules.

Receipts. A member photographs a receipt in the phone app, uploads it on the web, or forwards it by email. NorthOS reads the vendor, date, total, and GST/HST and files it to a T2125 line for the member to approve.

Bank transactions and mileage. A member can connect a bank or credit card account in the web app. Transactions land in a review queue for approval. There is also a mileage log for the business-use share of a vehicle.

Members in Québec

NorthOS handles the QST alongside the GST. This is what is in the product today, and nothing more is claimed:

  • It knows Québec's two sales taxes: the GST at 5% and the QST at 9.975%.
  • On an expense, the GST and the QST paid on a receipt show as separate figures.
  • It warns a member who is approaching the $30,000 QST small-supplier registration threshold.
  • A member on the Quick Method sees both the GST remittance rate and the QST remittance rate.
  • It names Revenu Québec, not the CRA, as the place to file. Revenu Québec administers the GST/HST in Québec, so you register for both taxes together and, when both taxes share a reporting period (the usual case), file one GST/HST–QST return. Garment manufacturers file their QST return monthly.
  • Its set-aside for pension plan contributions uses the QPP, not the CPP, for Québec residents.
  • North, the in-app assistant, is given Revenu Québec's own published guides for a Québec member's questions.

The NorthOS app and this website are in English. There is no French interface.

What your organization sees

A partner view in your NorthOS account lists the people who signed up through your organization's links: a masked email (the first letter and the domain, like j***@gmail.com), the sign-up date, and whether they have subscribed.

You never see a member's transactions, receipts, or any figure from their books. It is worth telling your members this when you send them their link.

How to apply

Email hello@northos.ca with your organization's name, who your members are, the province or provinces you serve, and roughly how many members you would like to invite. It goes to Nik, the founder, and a real person replies. If it is a fit, we set up your invite links.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this for?
Organizations whose members are self-employed in Canada: settlement agencies, community groups, member associations. If you are a bookkeeper or an accountant, the partner program for you is at northos.ca/partners.
What does “for life” mean?
The founding price belongs to the member’s NorthOS account. A member who signs up through their personal invite link keeps $12 a month or $119 a year on web checkout for as long as they keep the account. Prices are in CAD.
What does a new member pay without an invite link?
NorthOS leaves beta on Nov 1, 2026. An account created from that date pays $19 a month or $189 a year. An account created before it keeps $12 a month or $119 a year for life, invite link or not. So the invite link matters for every member who signs up from Nov 1, 2026.
What if a member subscribes inside the phone app?
The App Store and Google Play checkouts charge the store’s price, not the founding price. That is why members subscribe on the web first, at app.northos.ca, and then install the app and sign in with the same login. It is the same account and the same books on both.
What if a member already has an account, or signed up without an invite link?
The invite link has to be used when the account is created. An account created before Nov 1, 2026 is already on the founding price. For an account created later without an invite link, email us and we will look at it.
What does our organization see about our members?
A partner view in your NorthOS account lists the people who signed up through your organization’s links: a masked email (the first letter and the domain), the sign-up date, and whether they have subscribed. You never see a member’s transactions, receipts, or any figure from their books. Tell your members this when you send them their link.
Is there a French interface for our Québec members?
No. The NorthOS app and this website are in English. What NorthOS covers for Québec is listed on this page.
How do we apply?
Email hello@northos.ca with your organization’s name, who your members are, the province or provinces you serve, and roughly how many members you would like to invite. The email goes to Nik, the founder, and a real person replies.
Can we share one link with all our members?
No. The founding price comes from a personal invite link, one for each member, and each link works once. Send each member their own.
